I’ve finally got some time to go through my 2015 backlog, and today I’m starting with the Delta Plus that I completed back in May of last year. Honestly, it’s been so long since I built this kit that I can’t really remember much of the build process. This was the 2nd last kit I build using Future Floor Polish as a top coat, and unfortunately as a result some of the paint has started to crack in various areas.
Painting
For the overall colours, I kinda prefer the purplish grey from the HG kit rather than the bluish tone recommended by the MG manual. As usual, the waterslide decals used are from SamuelDecal.
Grey – Base coat of Aircraft Grey (50%) + Grey (40%) + Purple (10%). White is added to the mixture for highlights
White – Base coat of Intermediate Blue (100%). White (100%) is layered on top to create shading effect.
Blue – Base coat Cobalt Blue (100%). White is adedd to the mixture for highlights.
Internal Grey – Base coat of Neutral Grey (70%) + Black (30%), followed by Neutral Grey (90%) + Black (10%) for highlights.
Summary
- Great design translated well to MG
- Locking tabs included for Waverider form for extra stability
- Polycaps/ball joint used for hip joints
- Weak ankles due to transformation gimmick
- Bit finnicky to pose
hello, which brand of color you use?
GSI Creos (Gunze) Mr.Hobby Acrylic Paints
compare with Gaia Acrylic Paints, which one you think better?
what are the advantages of (Gunze),because many people told me (Gunze) is not a good Acrylic Paints
I have never used Gaia so I can’t make a comparison. But I’ve been using Gunze on all my kits for the last 10 years with no issues. It also has the added advantage that the colour mixes in the manuals refer to the Gunze colours.
